The Tandoori Masala spice mixture is a classic of Indian cuisine. This spicy rub is used to season meat (especially poultry), but also breaded cheese or vegetables. The ingredients are traditionally cooked in a tandoor oven, very common in India and used to prepare many dishes such as the famous naans or tandoori chicken with its characteristic smoky and spicy flavor.

The paprika and chili give the mixture its red color and characteristic hot taste; Garlic, coriander, cumin and ginger add depth. Our Tandoori Masala was developed by Chutnify, one of the best Indian restaurants in Berlin.

Tandoori Masala was popularized by Kundan Lal Gujral, the owner of Moti Mahal restaurant in Delhi. Although the chicken has been cooked in the tandoor since the 16th century, Gujral's version - crispy on the outside and bright red in color - has become a huge hit. By the late 1940's the restaurant was famous and frequented by the likes of Nixon, JF Kennedy and Gandhi.
